Product Description

•••••

Kenya coffees are so unique and when you get a good one the flavor is intense and wonderful. Our Gatomboya is a flavor experience.

Kenya has 6 million people working in coffee production with over 550,000 small farms. The best Kenyan coffees come from the Nyeri District of the Central Province.  Gatomboya washing station is located in Mathira, Nyeri. Gatomboya has won awards for the quality of their crops and processed coffee. With around 700 small farms in the area coffee farming is important and the quality of coffee they are producing is incredible. They cultivate SL28 and SL34 varietal coffee trees under old growth shade trees of Eucalyptus and Macadamia. Each coffee cherrie is handpicked for perfect ripeness that requires each farm to be moved thru with picking baskets every 10 to 14 days. Hand picking at these close intervals produce the sweet high quality coffee that brings a higher price to the farmer. At the washing station cherries are inspected, sorted and depulped. Then they are double fermented, washed and sun dried on raised beds. Gatomboya, through knowledge and care produces one fine coffee worthy to be enjoyed by any coffee connoisseur.
